The Architects’ Association 1927, Turkey’s oldest architectural organization and founder of the Chamber of Architects of Turkey, is a non-profit architectural institution aiming to develop and disseminate architectural culture.
Mimarlar Derneği, 18 Şubat 1927’ de, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin 4. yılında, Türk Mimarlar Cemiyeti olarak kuruldu; daha sonra 1939’da Türk Yüksek Mimarlar Birliği, 1965’de Türk Mimarlar Derneği, 1973’de Mimarlar Derneği 16.06.2006 da da Mimarlar Derneği 1927 isimlerini alarak bugüne geldi.
Derneğimiz, tarihsel süreci içinde Cumhuriyet devrimleri doğrultusunda, mimarların hakları ve mimarlık mesleğinin tanıtılması konularında çok önemli işlevler üslenmiş, UIA’nın kuruluşu aşamalarında çok büyük katkılar sağlamış ve TMMOB Kanunu’nun yasalaşmasında önemli rol oynamıştır.
Mimarlar Derneği 1927 bugün, mimarlık kültürü ve sorunları kapsamında her hafta düzenli etkinlik gerçekleştirmekte; ülkemizin mimarlık ortamında sivil toplum kuruluşları ile ortak programlarda fiilen ya da katkı koyarak yer almakta; diğer taraftan akademik kuruluşlar ile olumlu ilişkiler içinde mesleğimizin kültürel boyutunu zenginleştiren ve öğrenci çalışmalarını da destekleyen sponsorluklar ve etkinlikler gerçekleştirmektedir. Diğer taraftan çıkardığı yayınlarla da mimarlık ortamına çok değerli birikimleri aktarmaktadır.

The Architects’ Association 1927 was initially founded under the name of the “Turkish Association of Architects” on February 18, 1927, in the fourth year of the Turkish Republic. Later, it was named as the “Turkish Union of Higher Architects” in 1939 and “Turkish Architects’ Association” in 1965. It has been acknowledged as the “Architects’ Association 1927” since 1973.
Throughout its history the Association has undertaken important tasks regarding the rights of architects and the promotion of architecture as a profession in Turkey. The Association, in addition, made contributions to the establishment of UlA and has played an important role in the enactment of the Law on “Turkish Union of Engineers' and Architects' Chambers” (TMMOB).
Architects’ Association 1927 organizes a wide variety of activities on a regularly basis. Exhibitions, seminars, workshops, conferences, panels and publications that introduce, discuss and share agendas on ideas, projects, research, education and profession in national and international contexts are in the scope of the activity programs. The programs are also designed to include contributions from other disciplines such as philosophy, sociology, history, literature, art and engineering. The Association collaborates with non-governmental organizations and other architectural institutions to foster joint programs and projects as well.
