Mersin İli’nin İnovasyon Stratejisi, “RIS-Mersin Projesi” çerçevesinde geliştirilmesini amaçlayan bir Avrupa Birliği Projesidir.

Hikayemiz

Mersin Tourism Platform was established in 2007 by Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Mersin CCI) in the framework of 2006-2016 Mersin Regional Innovation Strategy. Following RIS Mersin Project who gave birth to the Platforms in the key development areas of Mersin, Mersin CCI played and continues playing an active role in order to assure the sustainability of the Platforms via Mersin Sectoral Platforms Project. Actually, there are three experts in the Chamber and each of them follows the secretariat of the Agro-Food, Logistics and Tourism Platforms.

As for the Tourism Platform, it plays an important role by supporting the competitiveness and sustainable development of tourism sector in Mersin. Strengthening communication and interaction between different stakeholders, the Tourism Platform continues its activities in order to establish sustainable cooperation networks in tourism sector.

Under the coordination of Mersin CCI and the leadership of Mersin Governorship; universities, public institutions, municipalities, non-governmental organisations, private organizations and companies cooperate in frame of this Platform in order to increase the competitiveness of the sector.

Our vision is to become a national and an international brand mark as a centre of attraction through Mersin’s rich natural, historical and cultural heritage. We would like to improve the life quality of people, increase tourism revenues and ensure the protection of natural and cultural values.

The Platform is concentrated mostly on the subsectors of tourism as eco-tourism, faith tourism, agro-tourism, accessible tourism, heritage tourism and cruise tourism. Besides the events and researches to raise awareness and develop these subsectors, Mersin Tourism Platform conducted concrete projects thanks to the assistance of Mersin CCI. The project called “Training of Qualified Intermediate Personnel in Service Charges of the Tourism Sector” was coordinated to train 90 qualified personnel in the sector. “Innovative and Productive Women Project” was conducted to supply the economical individualism of poor women which immigrated to Adana, Mersin and Tarsus. 60 women had vocational and social trainings, developed their labour skills and learned how to produce souvenirs for the visitors of the city.
