Hakkımızda:
Hakkında GAZİANTEP (Aintab) A FOOD LOVER'S DREAM and HISTORY LOVER'S HEAVEN BEY MAHALLESİ (BEY DISTRICT): MELTING POT of CULTURES and RELIGIONS Hikayemiz Gaziantep, is a city in southeast Turkey and among the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. The city is located 185 kilometres (115 mi) northeast of Adana and 97 kilometres (60 mi) north of Aleppo, Syria. It is the sixth most populous city in Turkey. Apart from cuisine, Gaziantep is also an industrial city having the third biggest industry in Turkey. Gaziantep's historic homes and neighbourhoods have been built based on sustainability principles. When you analyze the homes in these neighbourhoods you will easily see their green features mostly made from local materials. BEY Mahallesi is a neighborhood where one can most strongly feel the history GAZIANTEP. It has maintained its historic atmosphere and features through the passage of time. Cars are unable to enter the narrow streets here and so people can walk along the lanes, taking in the unparalleled view and the sense of history. The buildings here are full of the unique stonework (kara taş) characteristic of this region. The ongoing restoration projects on the stone streets here have ensured that a stream of local as well as foreign visitors, curious about what they will find, visit here. The Bey neighborhood sits atop a hill in the center of Gaziantep, presenting the most traditional way of life one can find in this region for all to see. Homes made of cut stone sit right next to each other, set on narrow streets also made of stone. The neighborly relations typical of this region are evidenced by how close these homes are to one another. This local neighborhood takes its name from the Bey Mosque, which was built back in 1578; Like so many neighborhoods that grew during the Ottoman times in Turkey, this one has mostly narrow streets and lanes, as well as many dead-end alleys, with many streets boasting just enough width to accommodate a loaded camel carrying goods. Here, in this district, one can find many of the traditional Antep homes that have been selected for restoration. The municipality project, which includes the areas of Hanifioğlu Sokak, Noter Sokak, Eski Sinema Sokak, Kayacık Ara Sokak, Öz Işık Çıkmazı and Kıssa Sokak, has targeted cement structures that are antithetical to the general development plan slated for the district and has headed up the razing of these structures in an effort to maintain the original characteristics of this neighborhood. The project began in front of Elmacı Pazar, heading all the way up to İnönü Caddesi.
