I am AMANULLAH ZAMANI from Afghanistan and I am a master degree student of Civil Engineering Department at Izmir Katip Celebi University in Turkey, I am very pleased with my current progress. I was keen on studying at Civil Engineering Department because I found it fascinating and from an early age I have enjoyed solving mathematical and physics problems: I strongly believe that higher education will enable me to develop these skills further. This subject not only allows me to investigate new technologies but it also gives me the opportunity to improve myself and focus on one of my genuine interests. Besides, engineering offers us the chance to make the world a better, safer and more exciting place; this is what attracts and inspires me to study on civil engineering; to learn how I can make the world or my country a better place.
At high school I joined the Physicists' Society and the Mathematics Society clubs. It was through this experience that I discovered my profound interest in Physics and the application of Mathematics to real life scenarios. To complement this, I had a wonderful Physics teacher that enriched my learning experience. Both my physics teacher and my guidance counsellor encouraged me to pursue a degree in engineering as they believed that I had the necessary skill sets. It was then that I decided I would certainly be a member of the field of engineering.
After I decided to enter the field of engineering, I passed the kankor exam (university entrance exam) I succeeded to get into civil engineering faculty of Jawzjan University in Afghanistan and I graduated from this University. To complete my academic life I participated actively in extracurricular activities both outside the university and inside it. I founded a Students' Association to have some activities about education and cultures inside Afghanistan.
After I graduated from Jawzjan University, I applied for master degree. After application I came to turkey, at the first time I learned Turkish language, I am currently at the first class of civil engineering for master degree at Izmir Katip Celebi University and I will make my thesis about structure of building.
Outside the school or at university study time, I give voluntary help to the young and the elderly at the community whenever possible. My hobbies include reading, drawing and playing sports. I read newspapers basically on politics, economics and culture to keep up to date with new developments in the world. The sports I enjoy the most are chess, badminton and volleyball.
From early ages as far as I can remember, I have always been fascinated with the news, and as a child, I used to ask "grown-ups" to explain what was happening around the world. I figure out the causes of important event and try to realize the extent to which news from around the globe affects our daily lives. Who is really responsible, or how we can stop these things in the future keeps me busy thinking. I think all people around the world have responsibility to be careful about the world and humanity.
When I was a student at Jawzjan University in Afghanistan, I founded a student’s association (Bonyadgar cultural & educational association) to create a good friendship atmosphere between all members of association and we held several cultural and education conferences in Jawzjan University. However, we had different activities; such as courses, helping poor students and etc. Now I am the administrator of Afghan Hazara’s student association in Turkey (Hazara Öğrenciler kültür ve Dayanışma Derneği). We try to do something for our future: we want to be influential over people in Afghanistan; to do something good to change of Afghanistan.
During the years of 2014- 2015, I had a work experience as a site Engineer. This placement was at 3D Consulting Value Assurance in Northern Afghanistan. I enjoyed this work experience placement enormously as I was able to adapt my current engineering knowledge into a real life situation. I successfully completed this experience on Road inventory, Traffic counting, GPS survey, Total station, Road condition survey, Unit rate analysis, Road maintenance, Material sampling and testing, Road construction, Building repair, Well construction, Structural design and bridge construction. At the end of the placement I designed a bridge for the company.
I enjoy learning and using languages; I can speak in Persian, Dari, English, Turkish and Tajiki.
